Man-in-the-Middle Attack

What is Man-in-the-Middle Attack?

A man-in-the-middle attack occurs when a hacker secretly intercepts and potentially alters the communication between two parties who believe they are talking directly to each other. The attacker can steal sensitive information, such as login credentials or credit card numbers, without either party knowing.

Why It Matters

  • It allows attackers to bypass security measures by capturing data before it is encrypted or after it is decrypted.

  • These attacks are common on unsecured public Wi-Fi networks, making mobile users particularly vulnerable.

  • Implementing strong encryption and certificate pinning is essential to prevent attackers from eavesdropping on private sessions.
