Batch Settlement

What is Batch Settlement?

Batch settlement is the process where a merchant sends a group of authorized transactions to their payment processor for final clearing and funding. Instead of processing each transaction individually, they are collected throughout the day and sent as a single file.

Once the batch is submitted, the processor communicates with the card networks to move funds from the issuing banks to the merchant’s account. Most merchants perform this process once every 24 hours.

Why It Matters

  • Increases efficiency by processing multiple transactions at once

  • Helps merchants reconcile their daily sales against bank deposits

  • Reduces the technical overhead of communicating with card networks

  • Determines the timing of when funds actually arrive in the merchant’s bank account
