In the first episode of Hatching Dodo, our founder Rishabh shares the inspiration behind building Dodo Payments. Having spent over ten years in the cross-border fintech industry, Rishabh worked across various domains, cultures, and global markets. Throughout this journey, he observed that while many companies had successfully solved for peer-to-peer (P2P) and business-to-business (B2B) transactions, the world of business-to-consumer (B2C) international payments remained fundamentally broken.

A common pain point for many users, especially in markets like India, is the inability to use local payment methods for global services. For instance, paying for a ChatGPT subscription or other international SaaS products via UPI in INR is often impossible or incredibly cumbersome. These friction-filled experiences are what Dodo Payments aims to eliminate. Rishabh's vision was to create a platform where every customer, regardless of their location, could enjoy an optimal and seamless payment experience.

By acting as a merchant of record, Dodo Payments takes on the responsibility of managing these complex international transactions. We bridge the gap between global digital products and local customers by providing a robust global payments infrastructure.
