Void Transaction
What is Void Transaction?
A void transaction is a payment that is canceled by the merchant before it has been settled through the customer’s debit or credit card account. Unlike a refund, a voided transaction never fully processes, and the funds are typically released back to the customer’s available balance quickly.
Why It Matters
-
Allows merchants to correct errors immediately without incurring refund fees
-
Provides a better customer experience by releasing held funds faster than a refund
-
Helps prevent fraudulent transactions from being finalized
-
Simplifies the reconciliation process by removing the transaction from the settlement batch
