## How VAT Applies to Digital Goods

The **standard VAT rate** in Turkey is **20%**.

Turkey applies 20% VAT (KDV -- Katma Değer Vergisi) on digital services provided to Turkish consumers by both resident and non-resident businesses. Since 2018, non-resident electronic service providers must register with the Turkish Revenue Administration (GIB) and collect VAT from Turkish customers regardless of sales volume -- there is no minimum threshold.

Turkey also imposes a Digital Service Tax (DST) of 7.5% on revenues from digital advertising, content, and social media services earned from Turkish users by companies with global revenues exceeding EUR 750 million. This applies separately from VAT. Monthly VAT returns must be filed by the 24th of the following month through the GIB portal.

Non-resident digital service providers must register with **GIB (Revenue Administration)** using the **VKN (Tax Identification Number)** format. Registration should be completed before first taxable sales to Turkey consumers.
